It was Nominated for five Golden Horse Award awards, winning Best Cinematography and Best Original Film Song. Directed by Patrick Kuang-Hui Liu, the story portrays life in post martial law Taiwan in the 1980s when two students faced challenges about their sexuality, social change and increasing family pressures.

Making it pixel perfect

Portraying the complex and heartfelt subject matter in a still image was the challenge for this Netflix title. Combining key art, unit photography and imagery from the film, we began to tackle subjects like ‘forbidden love’ and ‘social acceptance’ to make sure the artwork resonated with viewers. We needed to created unique images that stood out on mobile devices and home streaming services but also displayed the subject matter at a glance.
